Africa: Victoria Falls Extension

This trip takes in the splendor of Victoria Falls, one of the seven wonders of the world, the large herds of elephants at Chobe National Park, the shimmering saltpans of Makgadikgadi and the healing waters of Bela Bela.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1/2: Victoria Falls (Bx1/-/Dx1)

One of the seven wonders of the world, (Mosi-oa-Tunya) “The smoke that thunders”, is truly a breathtaking sight with the water of the Zambezi river falling into the gorge at 100 million liters per minute.

Here at the “Adventure Capital” you can view the falls or take part in various activities from the acclaimed wildest one-day whitewater run in the world to the pure adrenaline rush of the 111 meter Bungee Jump

Day 3: Chobe River Front (B/L/D)

Tonight our camp is situated on the banks of the beautiful Chobe River. This afternoon we take a sunset river cruise around some of the islands and may see huge herds of elephants coming down to the river to drink.

Day 4: Makgadikgadi Pans (B/L/D)

The Shimmering saltpans of Makgadikgadi appears as a glaring white endless plain. When the rain comes a dramatic change takes place as the pans come to life with frantically feeding water birds and great herds of game.

Tonight we camp near Sua Pan the breeding ground for a host of water birds. Explore the pans with open safari vehicles or on quad bike (own expense)

Day 5: Bela Bela (B/L/D)

We enter South Africa and camp at Bela Bela. Discovered by the Tswana people in the 1800s and named Bela-Bela, meaning ‘the water that boils on its own’.

The water is rich in salts that are believed to have healing properties. This internationally renowned spa offers a large mineral-water indoor pool, a high-temperature pool (rheumatism bath), sauna, underwater massage and hydrotherapy. It is based on the Baden-Baden concept in Germany and is the second biggest of its kind in the world

Day 6: Bela Bela & Johannesburg (B/L/-)

We leave Bela Bela and arrive for dinner in Johannesburg.

Day 7: Johannesburg (City of Gold) (B/-/-)

Spend the day at leisure or do one of the full day tours in Johannesburg:
